2020 Break Habit/Make Habit

Sherpa Sense:

I have this habit I have been thinking about quitting for sometime. It’s not a terribly bad for your health type habit, but it is one that is impacting my life. And I’m tired of it. So I am baring my soul to you. My habit is I let what people have negatively said to me go around and around and around in my head. Months after a negative interaction I am still rolling these convos around in my head.  Maybe, I am hoping for a different outcome. Sadly, it always ends up the same.

My goal is to kick this habit and replace it with a much more sane habit.  Perhaps even a habit with a health/mind benefit.

Let’s Yak:

So what’s your bad habit? Smoking, biting your nails, binge eating, procrastinating, Facebook,etc.  And what is a good habit you would like to replace it with? Don’t you think that 2020 is the year to make these changes? Let’s get looking forward to how you want to be!

  • Start thinking about what bad habits you want to change.
  • After careful thought, can you pinpoint what it is you are getting out of your bad habit?
  • Imagine your life without this bad habit.
  • Plan what you are going to do when the old habit starts.
  • Is there a good habit you could replace it with?                                                                                                                                                                           

Take A Hike:

Pinpoint the change you want to make in your life. It is supposed to take between 21 and 30 days to change a habit. One thing that has worked for me is to repeat 3 key words when I catch my mind replaying the same old scenario yet again. I simply say over and over 3 words that have a special meaning to me. Maybe it is the distraction but so far so good.
