Have you ever been a distracted driver? It is becoming one of the leading causes of car accidents. No text message is worth losing a life or injuring someone. Give your full attention to your driving responsibilities. When you sit behind the wheel of a car, it can be a weapon that can injure yourself and others. #alwayswearaseatbelt Every person, every time!
Driving is serious business. Every time you get behind the wheel of a car you are taking a risk. Make good decisions when you drive. You are legally responsible for yourself and anyone else in the car. And anyone you might injure, if you caused an accident.
Believe me when we say you will be missed if you don’t come home.
Think seriously before driving and:
- Eating or drinking
- Using a cell phone, either texting or talking
- Looking at GPS
- Having pets in your lap or roaming around in the car
- Putting on makeup or getting dressed
Take a Hike:
Choose to give your full attention to your driving responsibilities! Choose to NOT be distracted!
Many of us wouldn’t even think about driving intoxicated, but don’t give a second thought to answering our phones or texting while driving. Or eating a cheeseburger. Or taking the lid off of a hot caramel macchiato. Get the point? Put your cell phone on silent, use a blue-tooth or hands-free device if your car has one built-in, or better yet put your phone out of reach so you aren’t even tempted by it.
If you are in a car with a driver who is texting, offer to text for them. Offer to talk on the phone if it rings for them. Encourage your driver to pay full attention. Remind them that there is only one you and one of them. Be an extra set of eyes for safe driving. There are already enough factors to make driving unsafe, without adding to it.
One of the scariest things I have ever seen while driving is someone talking on the phone, while painting their fingernails as they drove down the freeway at 70 MPH!
