Questions to Ask on a First Date

Sherpa Sense:

Is he/she the right one for me? How do you really know until… you really know the other person. Even on a first date start by asking questions and observing.  #morethancurbappeal

Let’s Yak:

Spending time with someone is the best way to really get to know them. Doing things together and with others gives you insight into how they interact socially, how they treat others, and what their likes and dislikes are. Is there a way to know on the first date if this is someone you want to spend more time with? Start by engaging them with a few questions to see if you are compatible.

  • What do you like to do in your spare time?
  • What things do you dream about doing?
  • Are you an introvert or extrovert?
  • What are your pet peeves or things that you find intolerable?
  • What was your life like growing up?
  • What is one attribute that you want people to know about yourself?

Truly, one of the best ways of getting to know someone’s personality is to play games together and with a group. Nothing shows ones true personality more than when they are losing a game of Code Names or Monopoly.  #dotheycheat?

Car trips can also bring out their personality. How do they react when cut off in traffic? Do they become aggressive/angry or just roll with it? How do they treat others they interact with? Respectfully or condescendingly?

Take a Hike:

Before you waste time dating someone that you are not compatible with, spend your next date just talking and ask them these questions to better understand if they are someone that you want to spend time with.  #gettingtoknowyou

Yakety Yak:

Asking questions can give you insight into their personality, but people can be guarded and not always tell the truth. Use time to your advantage and spend it in a variety of ways together.

Be a crockpot not a microwave, or in other words move slowly not fast. #conversationissexy

A healthy relationship is more than just good looks. Try to see beyond the physical attraction to character traits, and suddenly that receding hairline or crooked tooth becomes more attractive.
